As we prepare to welcome the New Year (2026), we wish to take this opportunity to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to all those who supported or worked with us in 2025. We look forward to the New Year with joy, hope and optimism.

We are proud to be one of the leading newspapers in the country. Even though we are sixteen years old, we continue to compete vigorously with some of the older titles in the print media industry.

We have made significant progress. But the task at hand remains daunting. We have to modernize our operations to be able to remain relevant and even competitive. With the emergence of digital media, the print media is struggling in terms of sales and advertisement. Online advertising has become fashionable. Sales from print media are dwindling.

We are looking at innovative ways to remain relevant or even to survive. We are exploring ways to use new digital technologies to remain more relevant and even more attractive in the market.

We want to express profound gratitude to our friends in government, in business, and in politics who have continued to support and believe in us. Their support remains invaluable. We appreciate all of you!

To our avid readers and advertisers, we cannot thank you enough. We remain grateful to you for your unending support.

To the newspaper vendors, we thank you very much for your service.

To our printers, guest writers and reviewers, thank you so very much.

2026 is expected to be a very significant year in our political calendar. The two major political parties (APC and SLPP) are expected to elect their flag bearers ahead of crucial general elections in 2028. Money, character, administrative experience, messaging and personality will be key factors in determining the outcome of the flag bearer elections in both parties next year. It was Hon. Sewa Bockarie Marah (Sugar Boy) who once said that Politics is money.

Both parties have an array of experienced administrators and credible politicians ready to take over the mantle of leadership from President Julius Maada Bio when he retires peacefully in 2028.

It must be said that, President Bio has put Sierra Leone back on the map of important countries in terms of credibility and visibility. His Presidency has witnessed significant progress in terms of national credibility. The IMF, World Bank and the European Union continue their support and engagement with his administration. This is no mean feat.

In summing-up we wish our supporters, readers, vendors, advertisers and guest writers a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

We wish you all long life and good health as we welcome the New Year!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
