In Sierra Leoneโs capacity as the chair of the African Diamond Producers Association, the Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Umaru Napoleon Koroma chaired the pre-KP meeting for all ADPA members on Sunday, 10th May 2026, and participated in a dialogue on the future of the diamond industry dealing with mining, trading, and retailing.
On Monday, the 11th of May, he delivered a statement at the plenary on behalf of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA).
Mr. Koroma called on the world and the KP family to continue their collaboration as we they seek to sustain the diamond industry and realise its benefits for their respective nations despite the current challenges posed by the introduction of lab-grown diamonds in the diamond markets.
He pledged ADPAโs commitment to supporting the KP Chairmanship of India and fully supported this yearโs intercessional theme of Confidence, Credibility, and Compliance within the diamond industry as we seek to sustain the production of natural diamonds, which has been a source of livelihood for millions around the world.
The meeting will continue until Thursday with various working group discussions and the signing of a communiquรฉ that will speak to the future of the KP and sustainability of the natural diamonds industry.
