The National Chairman of the ruling SLPP (Sierra Leone Peoples Party), Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, has assured Sierra Leoneans and the international community that General and Presidential elections will go ahead as scheduled in November 2028. โAs a party, we are not going to change the electoral calendarโฆThatโs an issue for the ECSLโฆAs long as we are concerned, elections will go ahead in 2028โ, the SLPP National Chairman said in an exclusive interview with the Global Times Newspaper.
Sir Batilo Songa added that, the Party Leader and President, Dr Julius Maada Bio, is the Father of Democracy in Sierra Leone. โNothing should be done to undermine that lifelong title of one of our greatest leadersโ, Batilo Songa warned.
The partyโs National Chairman said confidently that the SLPP will win the 2028 elections by a landslide because of the good work of President Julius Maada Bio.
He clarified that as Party Leader, President Bio is expected to provide political leadership in electing the partyโs 2028 standard bearer.
Sir Batilo Songa called on SLPP supporters to remain united and continue to support President Bio to deliver for the good of the country.
He assured that, the partyโs grassroots base has been energized since he was elected as National Chairman of the SLPP exactly a year ago.
