Kono Gets New SLPP District Chairman

After a long and tireless battle for the position of Chairman SLPP Kono District, Safea Leslie Moiwa has been duly elected as District Chairman of the party.

The long awaited election took place at the SLPP office in Kainkordu Road, Koidu Town, Kono district on the 18th September 2021.

The winner Safie Moiwa got 55 votes, Sal Hindolo Mansaray got 45 votes while Samuel Sahr Sam got 6 votes.

The election was held peacefully under the watchful eyes of Alhaji Alusine Funkuba Fofanah, the SLPP National Trustee, who was the Returning Officer of the electioneering process.

Speaking to Global Times shortly after the results were announced, the newly elected Chairman said, “I would like to thank my people for the time and courage during these trying times and am very grateful, whether you supported me or not we are all winners, there are no losers as we are all in this together to promote the interests of the SLPP.” He further called on all to come together and raise the party to an enviable position.

Safea Moiwa is a son of the soil and a distinguished personality in Kono. He stands at the Pinnacle of academia with a First Class Degree from Fourah Bay College (FBC).

He has always exhibited his leadership dexterity since his days in the university. This is evident when he was once a Unit President at FBC in the year 2002/2003 and later National President of the Kono Students Union (KONSU) between the years of 2003/2004.

Apart from his educational pedigree, the new Chairman of the SLPP Kono District is also a very productive and prolific business tycoon, a guru in the marketing world. As an oil counselor, he has been able to create employment opportunities for hundreds of Sierra Leoneans with colossal acolytes in the business world.

Safea Moiwa is a philanthropist with a sparkling urge to help the poor and less fortunate at all times, and this has been greatly demonstrated in his 2018 support to a huge number of school going kids who received hundreds of scholarships and school materials from him. He has also constructed dozens of bridges and Barrays in KONO District.
