Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf Visits Tejan Kabbah Foundation

Former Liberian President, Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf recently paid a courtesy call on the Ahmad Tejan-Kabbah Foundation at Albert Street in Freetown. During her snap visit, she underscored the importance of peace, cohesion, justice and human rights issues as the principles of good governance.

Since her retirement as President, Madam Johnson-Sirleaf has been engaged in advocating for Womenโ€™s rights and participation in democratic processes to ensure lasting peace on the African continent.

The purpose of the visit was to enable her get firsthand information on the Foundation and to see how she can help boost the Foundation to achieve its aims and objectives.

Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf noted that peace and justice are the corner stone of good governance.

The Ahmad Tejan-Kabbah Foundation was launched two years ago by Madam Ellen Johnson Sirlleaf and President Bio to help promote peace and democracy which the late President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah stood for.

The reason she described him as an emblem for national development and one who paved the way for peace and democracy in war-torn Sierra Leone.

The foundation since its formation has been promoting peace by organizing symposia on peace and conflict resolution andย ย  womenโ€™s political participation in the democratic space within the sub-region.

Ambassador Soulay Daramy, the CEO and Founder of the Ahmad Tejan-Kabbah Foundation, in his statement said that it had always been their desire to go to Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to express their gratitude and thanks to her for the wonderful job she did in launching the foundation adding that since the launching, the foundation had received advice and guidance from people across the world.

Amb Daramy revealed that the foundation was founded based on their respect for the late President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah.

He added that to operate a foundation on a corporate basis, one needs to have an idea and needs advice from someone who has not only been in the public space but has been a head of state and the first in so many, and have had dealings with people from the corporate world, adding that it is a privilege for the Foundation to have Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as their Grand Chief Patron.

 

Madam Isatu Jabbie Kabbah (the wife of former President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah) appreciated Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for the courtesy call and her strong moral support over the years.
