Reports reaching this newspaper have revealed that Mr. Amara Kamara formerly of the Thunder Hill community in Kissy, in the eastern part of Freetown is now on the run fearing for the safety of his life after his uncle vowed to use all means to kill him for properties and money that was left to him by his late father.
The reports further stated that Amara’s troubles started when his father died in late April 2015, leaving all the documents for the family houses, some plots of land and his bank account with him, much to the displeasure of his uncle who vowed to take everything from him.
A close family member who spoke to this Reporter but does not want his name to be mentioned, explained that after the death of Amara’s father in his uncle assumed the leadership role in the extended family.
He also explained that to effect his plan to take over his late brother’s properties he virtually abducted Amara and his mother and kept them in the confines of the family home which led to lAmara’s mother developing mental health problems and was thrown out of the house to live in the streets.
The source also explained that late one night Amara was able to escape captivity by climbing over the fence of the compound.
He further explained that Amara abandoned the community and stayed with friends in communities far from where his uncle was staying.
The family member further explained that late one night in late January 2020, unidentified men reportedly attacked Amara, beat him up and broke his leg and left him lying on the street.
He stated that a passerby took Amara to the hospital from where he is reported to have escaped one night and had neither been seen nor heard from again.
When this Reporter went to the community to talk to both the uncle and Amara, he was informed that both of them have not been seen in the community since the night that Amara was attacked and beaten up by unidentified men.
This Reporter was further informed that strange men continue to visit the community asking for Amara and threatening that the day they catch him they will make him disappear for ever.
The family member disclosed that in early May of this year 2022, Amara’s mother succumbed to the hardship of the streets and died.
He concluded that Amara had neither been seen nor heard from to this day, speculating that he may have either died or escaped to an unknown place.
