Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally as a member of the SLPP Young Generation, worked with the late SB Marah, Teacher Lagao, Alhaji Musa Tarasid Tarawally, Paul Dumba, Dr Albert Joe Demby, Chief Hinga Norman, Elizabeth Lavalie, Dr Prince Harding, Momodu Koroma, Dr. Alpha Wurie, Hon. Foday Yumkella, Abass Collier, Dr Sama Banya, Dixon Roger, Abdulai Caulker, Sahr Nyama, Sitta Turay, Malam Janneh etc to bring Late Ahmad Tejan Kabbah of blessed memory to power in 1996.
Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally, a District Young Generation Leader, alongside the names stated above, went to exile with the Late President Kabbah and worked so hard to restore SLPP Government back to power in 1998.
Alhaji Musa Tarawally, a Young Generation Leader and member of the SLPP Strategic Planning Committee, worked with Dr Prince Harding and others, to win over 70% votes for SLPP in 2002 elections.
Alhaji Musa Tarawally, Moyamba District Chairman for SLPP and Member of Parliament, worked with other District Executive members to ensure that more SLPPs were in political appointments and as a Member of Parliament, fearlessly committed through a Parliamentary caucus, Late President Kabbah to increase salaries and improve conditions of service for MPs, including issuance of Diplomatic Passports to MPs.
Alhaji Musa Tarawally Moyamba District SLPP Chairman, MP and Member of the Strategic Planning Committee of SLPP, established the SLPP Working Group, consisting of Ministers, MPs, Heads of Parastatals and Party Executives, to promote and assess the possibility of the late VP Solomon Berewa’s prospect of winning the 2007 Presidential Elections for the SLPP. Only Dr Harding refused to join. Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally, as Chairman of the powerful SLPP Working Group, MP and Moyamba District SLPP Chairman, led Late VP Solomon Berewa to every Chiefdom of Sierra Leone. Upon realizing that the late VP Solomon Berewa would not win the elections for SLPP, he was fearless and straight forward to tell President Kabbah and VP Berewa the fact, against the support of majority of the executives and membership of the Working Group. He delivered his findings to the late VP Berewa who was the most powerful and feared VP in the history of Sierra Leone, in the presence of Hon. Alpha Timbo and others.
Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally, MP and Moyamba District SLPP Chairman, met with the Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio at his residence in Freetown to solicit his aspiration for SLPP Leadership, predicting to him that he was the best person to win elections for SLPP. And, after he got the consent of HE Bio, he recruited Dr Prince Harding, Alhaji Brima Koroma, Chief Caulker and 70% of South Eastern Chiefs, late Hon. MB Daramy, Chief Ismeal Koroma of Small Bo, Chief Musa Junisa, Abu Abu Abdulia, Chairman Mogabu of Makeni, Abu Bakar Sapae Foray Musa, Alhaji Noah Mansaray, MIK Bayoh, John BS Tucker, Albert Kapu, late Arthur Koroma of Kenema and most District Executive members of SLPP etc. Alhaji Musa Tarawally, District Chairman and MP, led HE Bio’s campaign till 2005 elections, when it was manipulated in support of the late VP Berewa. The SLPP went against his advice and some made him a target for victimization.
Alhaji Musa Tarawally as District Chairman and MP became the target of political victimization at the time. He was removed as District Chairman by protest and the MP symbol also stripped of him for his visionary advice to the SLPP against late VP Berewaโ€™s leadership of the SLPP.
Alhaji Musa Tarawally emerged as Minister in the EBK Government but, continued to work in the SLPP interest by protecting pro-SLPP Chiefs and party members who were sued in court by Lawyer Charles Margai for their roles in the 2007 electioneering process, including lawyers for the members of former Kamajors who he claimed attacked them in Kailahun, dismantled the PMDC to protect SLPP stronghold, paid lawyers to secure the early release of former CDF fighters in ICC prison and for several SLPP members including the Gavi case against late Bernald Dugba and others. He facilitated funds to SLPP District councils and development to all South Eastern Districts including the return of Njala University to Mokonde (Minister Turad Senesie can testify to this), the road from Moyamba Junction to Moyamba (Frequently brought EBK to Moyamba and took Moyamba Chiefs to EBK for the Moyamba Junction to Moyamba Road construction project).
Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally survived SLPP victimization in 2007 and APC victimization in his effort to bring back the SLPP to power.
He formed a coalition of political parties to contest under CDP and led a campaign against the ruling APC, got additional support and joined the SLPP in the 2018 runoff, to bring his ancestral SLPP party back to power which was successfully accomplished.
Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally a seasoned, battle tested visionary and grassroots legendary leader, played a significant role in the success of the 2023 campaign, by engaging at his own cost, community and grassroots leaders across the country.
Having stated the above: 2028 is for the well-experienced, successful and battle tested legendary and visionary grassroots leader, in the person of the Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally
