His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio will tomorrow officially commission the brand new Freetown International Airport at Lungi. The brand new airport was constructed by Summa Group of Turkey on a Build Operate Transfer basis.

This new international airport will replace the derelict Lungi International Airport which was built by the British Colonial masters in 1945 during the Second World War which lasted from 1939 to 1945.

President Bio has been commended by the people of Sierra Leone for his decision and wisdom to approve the construction of a modern airport at Lungi with state of the art facilities and technology.
