The Mayor of Koidu City Council, Mr. Komba Sam and his various support groups including 11 Councilors from the C4C party and a host of APC members yesterday openly declared their support for the ruling SLPP by joining the party at a jam-packed Koidu Community Center Football Field in the presence of His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio, First Lady Fatima Bio and a gallaxy of senior SLPP officials.

According to the SLPP Chairman Kono District Safea Leslie Moiwa, his executive and senior party members have been working tirelessly to persuade the newcomers to join the SLPP, but the developmental projects that President Bio and the SLPP government have done and continue to do in the district left them with no option but to officially join and support the SLPP to continue with their unfinished projects and do more for them.

For his part, the outgoing Coalition for Change (C4C)ย  Mayor in Koidu City, His Worship Komba Sam, said since he became mayor in 2018 his council has been getting the fullest support from the central government to pursue his developmental projects in the city.

He outlined a lot of government-supported projects that he successfully implemented as Mayor like the construction of over 90 culverts in the municipality, school bus project, and garbage collection to name but a few. He said with a lot of consultations, he has decided to join the SLPP to do more for the people of Koidu.

The occasion was climaxed by the declaration of dozens of support groups from C4C and APC for the ruling SLPP amidst thunderous applause from the jubilant crowd.

Welcoming the new members into the party, President Bio thanked them for making the right decision to join the SLPP. He told them to work within the confines of the law and avoid anything that will lead to violence and he promised to continue to do more for the people of Kono. โ€œAs you go you will be faced with a lot of temptation and provocation but you have to be strong as we are with you at all timesโ€. The President said.
