45-year-old female caretaker of a land property in Freetown, Humu Fofana, has been remanded at the Special Court Maximum Female Correctional Centre, Jomo Kenyatta Road in Freetown. She made an appearance yesterday at a Freetown High Court before Justice Sulaiman Bah.
The accused, Humu Fofana, is standing trial on two counts ranging from conspiracy to commit fraudulent conversion to fraudulent conversion, contrary to law.
In the particulars of offence, the state alleged that on a date between the 1st November 2021 and 17th March 2022 in Freetown, the accused person, Humu Fofana, conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit an offence to wit, fraudulent conversion of property.
On the second count, the accused on the same date is alleged to have fraudulently converted to her own use and benefit certain property including two tons of iron rods and other building materials; all to the total value of forty six Million, Four Hundred and Ten Thousand Leones (Old Leones) entrusted to her by Mariama Koroma for safe keeping.
The matter has been adjourned to the 17th April, 2023 for further hearing.
