This newspaper has been reliably informed that twenty-eight years old Mr. James Lennon, formerly of Number 34 K Thunder Hill in Kissy in the eastern part of Freetown, is now on the run, fearing for the safety of his life after he was declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police for alleged homosexual activities and for escaping from lawful detention.
The reports further stated that James’s troubles started when his community people suspected him to be having sexual activities with his fellow men, a sexual activity that is not accepted in this country and which the community people regard as an abomination, insisting that those men who are caught engaged in such unnatural and ungodly sexual practices must be killed in order to cleanse the land of such an unforgivable curse.
A source who lives in the community explained to this Reporter that for a very long time, the people had been looking for an opportunity to catch James in the sexual act so that they will have reason to attack him and beat them to death in order to cleanse the land of what they described as “this unforgivable abomination.”
He explained that luck ran out for James on the night of 20 April, 2025, when he was caught red-handed with one Serbian national by the name of Mr. Dave in a very sexually explicit position on the beach in Aberdeen village on the western outskirts of Freetown.
He further explained that a large group of community people attacked them, subjected them to serious beatings and tortures, before they were rescued by some Police Officers.
The source further stated that while Mr. Dave released James was detained in Police cell as investigations into the allegations against him were being done.
He source revealed that a few days later, James managed to escape from detention and disappeared.
He stated that on the day that James escaped from Police detention, which was 26 April, 2025, a large group of angry community people also attacked his home, which they completely vandalised and went away with properties and money worth hundreds of thousands on New Leones.
His wife, Mrs. Mary Lennon is believed to have escaped with their three young children, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
The man further explained that the Police made a warrant of arrest for Mr. James Lennon and also declared him as a wanted man.
When this Reporter requested for him to lead him to Mr. James Lennon for an interview, he told him that he did not know his whereabouts as, since the night of the attack, James had disappeared from the community and he had neither been seen nor heard from.
He also stated that unidentified young men continue to visit the community, mostly during late in the night, asking for James and his family members, making threatening remarks that they will kill them the day they see them.
When this Reporter contacted the Aberdeen Police Station on the matter, a Police Officer told him that they were looking for one Mr. James Lennon for the alleged crimes of wounding with intent, sodomy, escape from lawful arrest, and being in possession of harmful drugs.
He revealed that while they are investigating the matter, they were offering a reward of twenty thousand New Leones (NLe 20,000.00) to anybody who will give them information that will lead to the arrest of Mr. James Lennon
