The Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, last night confirmed the deportation of a total of fifty-four Sierra Leoneans from neighboring Guinea.
According to the Police boss, the fifty-four Sierra Leoneans were arrested in the border town of Dubreka in the Kindia Section of Guinea. They were reportedly arrested for loitering without lawful authority. Some of them were found to have been living in Guinea without any form of identification.
The Inspector General of Police confirmed yesterday to the Global Times that all fifty-four Sierra Leonean deportees were properly screened at the border before they were transported to their respective communities in Sierra Leone.
Reports say the Guinean authorities have intensified security presence in all border crossing points with Sierra Leone and Liberia.
Recently, some Sierra Leoneans were arrested in Conakry for their alleged involvement in drug smuggling especially Kush.
