Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu, former Speaker of the Parliament of Sierra Leone and former SLPP Regional Chairman (North), together with Mansa Alhaji Kanja Sesay, former Minister of Energy and former SLPP Regional Chairman (South), visited the National Chairman of the Sierra Leone Peopleโs Party, Jimmy Batilo Songa at the partyโs Headquarters, Unity House in Freetown last week.
Chairman Batilo Songa wrote on his Face Book page โOur discussions were centred on peace, reconciliation, and strengthening unity within the Party. Both leaders warmly congratulated me on my resounding election victory. They encouraged my Executive colleagues and me to remain united in full support of the Party’s leadership and strategic direction as we consolidate our gains and work purposefully towards 2028โ.
He continued โAs former Regional Chairmen of the North and South, respectively, their leadership represents the broad geographic reach and enduring strength of our Party. Their roles were instrumental in consolidating grassroots structures, mobilising support across key regions, and sustaining party cohesion during critical periods of our journey. Their presence together at Unity House is a powerful reflection of our Partyโs national character bridging regions, reinforcing unity and affirming the SLPP as a truly cohesive force across Sierra Leoneโ.
He added โI expressed my deep appreciation to these distinguished Senior Stakeholders for their visit, their steadfast commitment during our years in opposition, and their invaluable contributions to the Partyโs eventual victory in 2018. I also commended them for their continued service under the leadership of His Excellency President Julius Maada Wonie Bio.
We are proud to build on the solid foundation laid by these senior leaders as we decisively carry the Party forward into its next chapter.
It was a memorable moment at Unity House, as grassroots supporters and senior members gathered in a jubilant atmosphere to welcome these respected PAOPA stalwarts, demonstrating once again the vitality and unity of our Party at all levels.
Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu and Mansa Alhaji Kanja Sesay departed in high spirits, confident in the strength of the Partyโs leadership and the clarity of its direction.
With unity as our foundation, discipline as our strength, and the people as our focus, the SLPP will continue to move forward with confidence, stronger, more cohesive and firmly on course for 2028โ.
One Country, One People!
Yours in service,
Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa
National Chairman
SLPP, Unity House
