President Bio Receives Top Saudi Envoy

President Dr. Julius Maada Bio yesterday received His Excellency, Ahmad Bin Abdul Aziz Khattan, Adviser to the Royal Court and Special Envoy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Special Envoy was accompanied to State House by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Professor David John Francis.

The Special Envoy conveyed greetings of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Abdulaziz.

In a Briefing Meeting hosted by Professor David John Francis after the close door meeting with His Excellency, President Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the Special Envoy, His Excellency, Ahmad Bin Abdul Aลพiz Khattan confirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to support Sierra Leone’s seat bid for the UN Security Council for 2024-2025 with elections to be held in 2023. He reiterated the excellent bilateral relationship that exists between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Sierra Leone.

Based on the Principle of Reciprocity, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that the Government of Sierra Leone will consider to also support Saudi Arabia’s bid to Expo 2030. He said this was in recognition of the Special Relationship that exists between the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
